Our Story

our story

tijori started before i was born — in my mom’s boutique in India.

we moved to America when my dad took on a new role as a Hindu priest, and growing up, the mandir became the center of everything. that’s where I learned to tie a saree before I could parallel park. where every festival meant a new outfit, a new story, a new piece of jewelry passed down or picked out on a trip back to India. desi fashion was never a trend for me — it was the thing that kept me grounded, thousands of miles from where my family started.

my own path went a different way at first — finance, marketing, years spent DJing around Philly and Atlanta. but the pull back to what I grew up around never really left. so tijori began the way my mom’s boutique once did — small, scrappy, out of a garage — built on the same instinct she had: that every piece deserves to be handpicked, not mass-produced.

tijori means “treasure chest” in Hindi. it’s a name that carries her boutique forward, and carries mine.
